O2 Ability Awards Official Rules of Entry

  • Anyone within an organisation can apply on behalf of their organisation or any individual can recommend an organisation to apply
  • Each application can only be submitted with the knowledge and support of the CEO or Managing Director
  • No more than one entry per location, although different branches of the same organisation can apply
  • Winning organisations must allow use of their name on O2 Ability Awards promotional material and be willing to be photographed and participate in media interviews
  • Organisations that enter must make themselves available to the assessors. Suitable assessment dates will be agreed with successful organisations and your cooperation in terms of dates would be greatly appreciated.
  • Organisations in existence for the specific purpose of working on behalf of people with disabilities are not eligible
  • Organisations must be fully compliant with all national and European legislation in relation to: Health & Safety, Employment, Building Regulations and Access to Goods and Services
Requirement – Top level endorsement

While anyone within an organisation can apply on behalf of their organisation for an award, each application must be endorsed by the CEO or Managing Director. This top-level endorsement is vital as an initial statement of support and commitment by the organisation to the inclusion of diversity within the organisation.

Attitude, not numbers!

It is not the number of people with disabilities that you employ which determines your eligibility for entering – far from it. You may in fact not employ any person with a disability, yet your organisation may recognise or seek to target people with disabilities as customers; may have put in place flexible working arrangements; or have organised disability awareness training for staff.

We want to encourage organisations to ask what they could do better to make the employment and inclusion of people with disabilities a practical reality.
